Grace loved to travel and had traveled in all 50 states. Grace & Ed traveled to Australia, Switzerland, Norway, Hawaii, The Bahamas, Alaska, Canada and many other places but they especially enjoyed their recent trip to the Holy Land. Grace enjoyed spending time with family and friends -- celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, planning picnics and helping with church meals. She enjoyed making people happy and keeping their plates full! Grace also enjoyed shopping and had many special shopping “buddies”. She will be greatly missed, especially at church, where she sang in the choir, coordinated the sanctuary flowers and helped anywhere she was needed. She was a loving person to all she met and she loved serving her Lord by helping others. Heavens gain is our loss but the memories will continue until we see her again!
Surviving in addition to her husband Eddie Dellinger, is a son, Daryl Dellinger and wife Debra, a daughter Dawn Hughes and husband Curtis; one sister Shirley Hoilman and husband Joe; a special sister-in-law Faye Johnson; two grandchildren, Tyler and Tenille Dellinger

Grace's Life:

She was 7 yrs old when her dad died

It took all the children's help to support the family. Grace paid for
the bathroom to be installed in the house. Hard work was a normal part of their life. Helping with the house duties, raising a garden, working, etc. were all part of her normal life.

Graces's Work Career:

Work was a passion for her. She always worked hard and gave her
best to her work. Her last job, working at the hospital was something she loved to do.

Several late nights, we would hear the "two-granny" Subaru head out...it was normal to find her at the hospital finishing her work for the day. (She had to keep up with all the current events throughout the day - but she managed to get her work done ).. What happened in Mitchell county was important to her. One of Mom's gift's was she knew everyone's name.

Grace's Love For Her Family

She loved to cook and have people over.
She was always a part of the Buchanan reunions.
Family cookouts were important to her. She always made sure their
was a lot of food

One thing about Grace - "she was always late for everything". There was always one more thing she needed to get. It was a common practice - she would head to Ingles for that "one more thing".

One thing you never messed with was the weekly "hair-dooty" appointment. She was always late and the "two-granny" Subaru went at "top" speed. Thanks Patsy & Shirley!

Her special Foods will be something we will always remember and always miss: Foods like her very special Apple pies or her chocolate cake. Curtis really loved her turkey and her special chunky dressing.

Another memory is her love for games.

Growing up, we would play badminton, croquet, Card Games: Rook, Rummy, Board games, etc. Last christmas she made the move to high tech. "The Wii". She beat Daryl in a boxing match.

Family vacations - always packed with lots to do and places to see.
One vacation to Epcot - We opened up the park and at 12:00am we were still in Line to ride one last thing.

Travel - Something very special to her.

Grace loved to travel...... If there was an event happening locally,
she was there. Event's like the Wooly Worm Festival, Burnsville Fair, County Fair's, etc. She loved Dollywood and all the shows around Pigeon Forge. One very cold Christmas trip, Curtis & Dawn "had to see every show in Dollywood"...and off we went!! You can be sure that she would always take in a show every time she was in Pigeon Forge. One of the most surprising things about one of her trips - In Australia - she rode on a Camel. Where ever Grace and Ed traveled, there was always gifts for her family. She always wanted to share her memories with us.

Grace was a faithful church member.

Special Love in her life was her Church and all of it's members.
Whenever there was an event, she was there. (maybe late getting that one last thing) but she would always be there and bring a lot of food. She always loved to sing and I can't remember a time when she wasn't singing in the choir. She always made sure the family was at church. If Dawn had a special project (VBS, Christmas decorations, children's Easter parties, Hallelujah parties, Trunk or Treat) mom ALWAYS was a part!! She had to help!!

Another special love was her family and grandchildren.

Holidays were a special family time. Dying Easter eggs, Christmas
meals, gifts, games. She was always in the middle of them

She also loved to work. She gave any job she had her all. Many times, she would work late at the hospital because she still had things to do. She used part of her day to visit and keep up on the latest news.

Grace will be greatly missed but we know we will see her again thanks to our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Precious Memories....how they linger

Best regards
