About Dawn

I was born a “telephone man’s” daughter. This was a song I made up as a little girl while riding my bicycle around and around our house. My love of music started when I was small and still continues. I began taking piano lessons at age 8 and continued all the way through college. Playing the piano has certainly been a gift from the Lord and I try to serve Him with my talents.
I was brought up in church all my life and still to this day attend the same church. I was saved one night during Revival services at age 9 and was soon Baptized. Although I was young, my aunt Shirley made sure I “got it” right. She even made me go through the plan of salvation twice!! I can’t say I lived anywhere near a perfect life but God had a master plan and I believe I found it. He is still continuing to work in my life and I can only anticipate what lies ahead.

Higher Education

I attended college about an hour away from home and continued to come home every weekend to plan the piano for our church. It was during this time that I saw this “stranger” in our congregation one Christmas Sunday. I thought “Hmmmm, he’s cute!!” I really can’t say that the wheelchair had any effect on what I saw in Curtis. Needless to say, the rest is history. We went on our first date in February and although we did experience a few problems along the way, we stayed strong. I was still in college and the rough times were sometimes too much, or at least we thought so....so it came to a point of either breaking up or getting married. So....we got married!! This wasn’t an impulsive decision. There was MUCH, MUCH prayer. I knew Curtis was the husband that God wanted me to have and I really felt that few people would ever understand. But we knew that this was God’s plan for our lives. After we got married, I wasn’t sure whether my family would ever speak to me again. But, God is AWESOME and He has a perfect plan. Maybe it was me finally taking a “leap of faith” and trusting that He would work it all out, because He did. My family is probably as close to Curtis as his own family.

Blessed Soooo Much

We will be celebrating our 16th year of marriage this coming March. It’s exciting to think that God has kept us together this long, is continuing to bless us soooo much and we actually are Best Friends!! God really knows what He’s doing if we will just obey!!
Things are continually changing in our lives -- nothing drastic but we are continually looking for ways to serve the Lord. Currently we are not only involved in our church but serve on the local CRC committee at the prison and will hopefully become more involved in some other missions organizations in our area. It’s amazing to look at what God can do if we are just willing, and Curtis and I want to be willing.

My life and my testimony are really nothing “special” except for the fact that I’m saved and I want to live my life to please the Lord. I can only hope that others may receive a blessing from me and that somehow others can be touched by the Lord.

Have a blessed day and always keep a song in your heart!
